Muskingum University Game Club: A Hall of Memories

My Experience at Muskingum University Game Club

Hello everyone! Today I will be speaking about Muskingum University game club and how the time there has really been a game changer for me.

I began my college experiences here at Muskingum University and I was in a foreign place in a foreign world for the first time. I did not know what to do with myself, but I decided after my first week here I would go on down to game club and try my luck with something new.

At first glance it seemed very loud and obnoxious, something I wasn't quite used too for quite some time after I left home, but it felt almost at ease here, with the pressure off my back. Soon afterwards, the game club president at the time Amelia Shaffstall began to tell me about what kinds of games they played, they meet every Wednesday, and it's just a time of relaxation during the day. After being there for 10 or so minutes it was getting to be very relaxing, people were chill, everyone cracked jokes, it seemed finally like a friendly place to go. I soon thereafter became friends with many of the people who came and seriously enjoyed taking my time to hang out with everyone, it truly was a awe-inspiring experience for me.

From there on I always went to game club whenever I had the chance and I began to open up to the world now that I had connections with people that I previous did not have before, it awoke my feeling of being alive, and I enjoy every single one of my game-clubbers.

After the first semester came to a close, I went back to hear about this event called the game day, where it's an all-night event where anyone can come in and play games, and even some of the game club alumni would be there! I thought the event was kind of interesting and thought I should probably go to the event as an honorary game club member.

I came and was not disappointed upon arrival, I saw so many people that I usually did not see at game club, and they all were very nice and enjoyable people. I'm giving a shoutout to Brad, one of the honorary game-club alumni played my favorite game that I learned to play at college, Magic: The Gathering. I played a couple games with Brad and the other members of game club, and I've actually learned to a pretty good player, which leads to me getting targeted most of the time whenever we play, but it's the name of the game.

The most interesting part of the day came when night fell and all of us college students started running around playing hide and seek like a bunch of 2-year-old kids running around a giant 3 story facility, it was absolute chaos, and it has been a very enjoyable experience if you've ever had a similar one to it.

Game Club has transformed my life here and I think if I didn't have this incredible organization, I would not be the same person, I would have something missing inside of me. If anyone is making a college decision, just remember Muskingum for its amazing students, I didn't think it would be any good at first, but people surprise me, and surprise me they did, and I wanted to thank them and the game club advisor for all the things they did for me too.
